Sabri Benkahla
Sabri was sentenced to over 10 years in prison for perjury, obstruction of justice, and making false statements*. He is serving his sentence in Terre Haute, Indiana in what is called a Communication Management Unit- a special unit created to house Muslim inmates and restricts their contact with the outside world. The ACLU has filed a complaint against the Federal Bureau of Prisons for the prison abuse and discrimination that Sabri is facing in Terre Haute , Indiana along with other Muslim inmates . In addition, Sabri is challenging his illegal detention under the U.S. Code Section 2255 through a habeas corpus petition.Sabri retained Attorney Jonathan Sheldon to challenge his illegal detention in federal court.Within a week, Mr. Sheldon will be filing the petition for habeas corpus on Sabri’s behalf. Ahmed Abu-Ali Recently, Ahmed Abu-Ali retained Attorney Robert Boyle from New York for his habeas corpus proceedings. In the habeas corpus petition, Mr. Boyle will explain the reasons why Ahmed's current detention is illegal and that he is innocent of the charges he was convicted of*. In addition, Ahmed's attorney for the appeals Joshua Dratel is finalizing the briefs for the appeal of Ahmed's resentencing, which changed his sentence from 30 years to life in prison. The Fourth Circuit Court will decide whether to consider this appeal once it is filed. Both attorneys need sufficient funds in order to complete their work successfully and advocate on behalf of Ahmed. Your support is urgently needed.
